Proofreading for Editors
Become a more accurate proofreader in just one day. Whether you are a beginner or just a little rusty, you will benefit from this course. As you work through a series of exercises, your experienced tutor will help you to improve your skills and increase your confidence. You will gain valuable practical experience, including judging when to leave ‘good enough’ alone, as well as guidance on commonly used terms.
The course is geared towards conventional book and journal publishers and uses the 2005 BSI symbols.

Learning outcomes
At the end of this course, you should be able to:
- proofread a range of documents confidently
- utilise the BSI proof marks
- demonstrate an understanding of the terms used
- identify and evaluate the costs involved in the proofreading process.
This course contributes to PUB 20 of the Book & Journal Publishing National Occupational Standards.
