Discounts and funding
Discounts
The following discounts apply to our short (classroom-based) courses. There are no discounts available for our distance learning and online programmes, but there is some help with funding available.
Please ask for your discount when you book as discounts cannot be given retrospectively.
Charity discount
Get 10% off short course bookings if your organisation is a registered charity.
Not to be used in conjunction with any of our other discount plans.
New Recruit discount
If, when you confirm your booking, (a) you’ve been working in a publishing company for six months or less and (b) this is your first publishing job, you can get 10% off your short course booking.
Not to be used in conjunction with any of our other discount plans.
Team discount
Book more than one person from your organisation on the same short course, on the same date, and you can benefit from our team discount plan:
- 10% discount for 2nd and 3rd delegates
- 15% discount for 4th delegate.
All team members must be booked at the same time to qualify.
Training Suite discount
Our training advisers are always on hand to help create the ideal suite of training for you and your staff. If you’re booking more than one course for yourself, or for another individual delegate, and confirming those bookings at the same time, you can benefit from our Training Suite discount:
- 10% discount for 2nd and 3rd booking
- 15% discount for 4th booking (and further bookings).
All bookings must be confirmed at the same time to qualify (no matter what the dates of the individual courses), and the discount is not transferable to other delegates. This discount may be used in conjunction with the Early Booking discount on residential courses, up to a maximum discount of 20%.
Small Business discount
To help small businesses, we offer a standard 10% discount on each short course booking. Small businesses are considered to be those with 20 or fewer employees and which have their own cost centre.

Discount for freelancers
If you work on a freelance or independent basis, and are funding your training yourself, you can claim a 10% discount on any of our short courses.

Discounts for students, recent graduates who have yet to find work and staff who have been made redundant
The Publishing Training Centre occasionally offers discretionary 50% discounts on courses to these groups.
Funding
Jobcentre Plus
If you are currently unemployed, your local Jobcentre Plus may be able to help with funding. Ring 0345 604 3719.
BTBS The Book Trade Charity
BTBS offers funding to people who have worked in publishing or bookselling but are currently unemployed. Call 01923 263 128
