Trade Commissioning and List Management
This brand-new course, with its stellar faculty of tutors, is the definitive course for commissioning and acquisition editors from consumer book publishing who require the skills necessary to build a profitable publishing list.
If you’re an editor in the early stages of your career, with responsibility for acquisitions and list-building for a trade publisher, this unique programme will give you the best possible foundation.
The project to develop and launch this course has been partly supported by HM Government with EmployerOwnership funding. This funding enables the PTC to offer places on the inaugural course at a 50% discount off the full course fee at £997.50 (plus vat). Act now to take advantage of this special price.
The intensive four-day residential course combines the creative with the entrepreneurial and balances intuition with methodology. It covers all the essential proficiencies that a successful list-builder needs and explores the critical relationships with internal and external partners on which list-building depends.
At the heart of the programme is a case study that is woven through the four days. Working in a group, you’ll develop a full publishing project proposal – from title and content through costings to marketing plans. Finally, you’ll present your proposal to a ‘board of directors’ for assessment.
Each formal group session is led by an expert tutor, ensuring a variety of teaching styles and personal experience. The tried-and-tested residential venue provides an atmosphere conducive to learning and networking.
Those who take part in the course are hugely rewarded with the knowledge and skills gained, plus the networking and relationship-building opportunities After four days and three evenings of challenging work, you’ll leave tired but inspired!
