New courses
A number of new courses are being launched during 2009. They reflect the changing nature of publishing and the skills needed for the future. Our customers remain the best source of new ideas, so please keep them coming in!
Perhaps the most exciting new title is Managing Digital Projects. This course will stimulate learning on the most modern and exciting methods of managing the development of digital products using the very latest technologies. Delegates will attend an intense two-day programme and will then return to their offices and implement the new methods they have learnt. Around six weeks later they will return for a further one-day follow-up workshop where the problems and successes they have encountered will be discussed and help offered by the tutors.
Selling and Marketing Digital Products is led by three recognised experts in their field, who will illustrate from experience what makes a digital product sell. The course focuses primarily on the education and higher academic markets of publishing, but may be relevant to other markets. The programme includes business planning and pricing models, customer acquisition, promotions, discounting, effective selling methods, and much more.
The Business Planning for Digital Products course takes delegates through the stages of preparing a strong proposal and business case for digital projects.
Experienced copy editors will benefit from our Advanced Copy-Editing master class. Complex, multi-author and non-native English texts are covered and delegates will be able to discuss editing issues in a workshop environment.
And finally, for all the editorial freelancers out there, we are launching Successful Editorial Freelancing. This one day course covers the practical nuts and bolts of what is required to set up as freelancer in the publishing industry, and to equip you with the confidence and business ‘nous’ to create a successful and sustainable freelance income. Please note that the course covers the financial and legal considerations relating to the UK market only.
