Publishing law focus group / networking event

We are pleased to announce the:


Publishing Law, Contracts and Rights
FOCUS GROUP and NETWORKING EVENT
To be held on 2nd July between 4:30pm – 5:30pm at Book House, East Hill, Wandsworth SW18 2QZ.


If your work requires a knowledge of publishing law or contracts, or if you are involved in selling rights, come and join us for a drink and a discussion of some of the latest trends at our next focus group. You’ll be involved in shaping the new courses we will be offering in this area for 2009, and we’ll even invite you back on the pilot courses when we get them up and running.


In addition, and as a thank you for your time, all those who attend will be offered a voucher for a free one-day training course redeemable against any of our one-day courses running at Book House or Said Business School in Oxford.

Special courses for independent publishers

PTC has once again teamed up with the Independent Publishers Guild to offer a range of courses specifically tailored to independent publishers.

 

Working with XML: extra course

An extra course in Working with XML has been scheduled for 18 September.

 

Course date changes

Proofreading for Editors (Oxford) has been moved from 15 April to 15 May.

 

Managing Projects has been rescheduled from 18 June and 13 October to 30 June and 28 October 2008.

 

Working with XML has been moved from 23 July to 10 July 2008.

 

Editorial Project Management has been moved from 22-23 September to 11-12 September 2008.

 

Vacancy - Marketing Manager

Salary – Competitive + generous benefits

 

Required as soon as possible, a dynamic and innovative marketing manager to join a small team in this thriving educational charity providing training services to the publishing community. Knowledge of publishing would be a plus but is not essential.

 

The ideal candidate will have formal marketing qualifications together with solid experience, both of business-to-business and consumer marketing. They must be familiar with the opportunities presented by the Web and be comfortable with managing and running the PTC website. They will be responsible for the whole of the marketing function from planning and budgeting to implementation and staff management.

 

Key skills will include:

  • Database management and interrogation
  • Website management and familiarity with HTML
  • Knowledge of Web 2.0
  • Excellent copywriting and proofreading
  • First-class communication skills
