PTC Tutor Awarded Licentiateship in Editorial Skills

Anne Waddingham receiving her award from City and Guilds

Anne Waddingham, a tutor with The Publishing Training Centre, recently gained a new qualification - a Licentiateship in Editorial Skills from City & Guilds. This is a new qualification arranged in a liaison between C&G and the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP) and allows advanced members to gain formal recognition from an external body.

According to the SfEP the award provides recognition of professional development for individuals who have progressed into more senior roles but often have little in the way of formal acknowledgement of the skills they have or the work they have undertaken. The licentiateship – one of City & Guilds' 'senior awards' – is recognised as a Level 4 qualification, equivalent to a Higher National Diploma (HND).

Anne teaches Editing in Word, Managing Editorial Freelancers and Editing Scientific, Technical and Medical Texts at The Publishing Training Centre. She trades as WordMedic (‘Making words better’) and has worked in STM publishing for over 30 years. She specialises in tutoring, on-screen editing and project management. She authored the on-screen editing chapter in the fourth edition of Butcher’s Copyediting (CUP, 2006) and contributed to New Hart’s Rules (OUP, 2005).
