"Thoroughly enjoyed it! Felt like I've learned a wealth of information and it has opened my eyes to the wider issues I should be aware of. Good tutors and a varied programme."

A unique opportunity for you to take a strategic look at your journals programme, this course addresses issues such as:
- using new production opportunities to increase productivity and cut costs
- using your marketing, fulfilment and editorial departments to develop and improve your journals
- which points of copyright affect your authors, editors and journals.
This three-day course will enable you to develop an informed strategic view of the future, as well as improve your handling of the present, by encouraging you to examine each of the following:
- will journals publishers still exist in 20 years?
- how will electronic publishing affect the shape and profitability of the industry?
- what are the main different electronic publishing strategies being adopted now?
- how are libraries and their needs changing... and what will be the effects on the journals industry?
- how can you make best use of your marketing, fulfilment and editorial departments to develop and improve your journals?
You'll get most out of this course if you already manage one or more journals and have been doing so for about 18 months. The course presents an excellent opportunity for networking and sharing ideas with other editors. And, by working with other delegates on a case study involving a 'problem' journal, you'll gain practical ideas and techniques that you can take away and implement immediately.
