"It is very effective in untangling the complications of the balance sheet, demonstrating the importance of cash flow and working out if what looks like a profit really is a profit."

Steve Savage, Steve Savage Publishers Ltd

"I found it not-intimidating (my initial fear), stimulating, and directly applicable to my business."

Dick Warner, Class Publishing

Some independent publishers focus too heavily on the creative side of publishing at the expense of the financial aspects of running a business.

And when you're driven by a passion for publishing, the figures can indeed seem unimportant.

This is hardly surprising - but it is risky. At best, a sketchy knowledge of finance could mean your life is a lot harder than it needs to be. At worst, your business could be in jeopardy.

This course has been developed to address this problem.

This collaboration between the Independent Publishers Guild (IPG) and the Publishing Training Centre will help clarify the business aspects of publishing. It's designed to help you (a) establish a firm platform on which to build your business and (b) plan ahead effectively, so you're never caught out by events.

The course runs from 9.30 to 5.00 and delegate numbers are limited to a maximum of 16, to guarantee a high level of personal tuition and assistance.

Delegates are encouraged to email questions in advance, and to follow up with queries.
