Mistakes can be costly and cause severe delays to a project. This course aims to minimise such problems. Practical examples will be used throughout to illustrate common problems and their solutions.
At each point in the pre-publication process it is important to understand how the software used affects the electronic file and interacts with other software packages used. Text may be delivered by an author in a word processing file, and formatting embedded in this file could cause problems when importing into a page layout package or when the file is converted to PDF.
Similarly, digital images need to have the correct format, size, resolution, colour models and so on, in order to be used effectively in the final layout. These and many other examples are covered in-depth during this course.
In addition to a clear understanding of digital workflow, you will learn how to troubleshoot problems and how to specify requirements for freelancers.
