Adobe Photoshop is a powerful and flexible package; the standard image manipulation software for paper and electronic publishers. But do you know how to use it? Can you get to grips with its huge array of features?

This introductory course is intended for designers, editors, marketing and production staff, with little or no knowledge of Photoshop.

It will enable you to understand the process of modification and montaging of images from the initial scan or digital photograph, through to final preparation for print or web publishing.

Group sizes are kept deliberately small, ensuring that you get the individual attention you need as you work through a number of confidence-building exercises.

Programme

Day one

  • The digital workspace
  • Setting up documents
  • Selection tools
  • The layers palette
  • The navigator palette
  • The history palette
  • The options bar
  • Size and resolution
  • Why Photoshop sometimes doesn't 'do what you expect'
  • Changing colours with the colour picker

  • The difference between digital photos and scanned images
  • How to realign, crop, repair and improve images
  • Non-permanent editing: adjustment layers
