Nancy Duin

Nancy Duin is a freelance copywriter, editor and trainer. She initially worked as a book editor on a wide range of subjects, but later expanded her repertoire to structuring, writing and editing websites for television companies, businesses and government agencies and departments. Her clients have included:

• Channel 4 Television – she was an editorial consultant for almost two decades, editing and writing both print publications and websites, and editor of the Channel 4 History website for seven years

• Department for International Development – she was closely involved in the latest redevelopment of the DFID website, transforming the antiquated 'Country profiles' to the current 'Where we work' section

• Napster – she carried out a qualitative content audit of this music-on-demand site and wrote copy to replace outdated/inadequate existing content.

More recently, she has worked part-time as deputy managing editor of the government-funded BeGrand.net – 'the website for grandparents' – and as content editor for Digital Unite, helping to create its 'Learning Zone' of easily digestible articles on all things digital.

In addition, in 2000 she co-created PTC's 'Web editing & writing' course – one of the first of its kind in the UK – and has helped tutor it ever since. She recently co-created another web editorial skills course for the Society for Editors and Proofreaders, of which she's internet director.

Born in the US, she has lived in London for many years.
