Dick Greener
Dick Greener is Director of Legal Affairs for the Legal and Tax & Accounting businesses of Thomson Reuters (Professional) UK Limited in the UK. Trained as a barrister, he joined law publishers Sweet & Maxwell (now part of Thomson Reuters) as an editor in 1981 and worked in various publishing management roles in relation to Sweet & Maxwell's academic, practitioner and electronic publishing activity between then and 1998.
In 1998 he moved to his present role, responsible for the Legal Department which provides legal services (legal issues, especially copyright, contracts, licensing, and acquisition/disposal related matters but excluding tax, property and HR) for those publishing/information businesses, with a team of three lawyers reporting to him.
He currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Academic and Professional Board of the UK Publishers' Association, and was an Expert Member of the UK Government's Advisory Panel on Public Sector Information from 2003 till 2006.
He is Company Secretary for the UK group of TR's UK legal business companies.
In his spare time he is also a director of a small independent record label and runs a website for a rock band.
He has been teaching on the session on contracts and copyright on PTC's Commissioning and List Management for 7 years and has occasionally taught on other publishing/contract law courses at University College London.
