Proofreading and Editing Online Training
Much of this material is freely available to anyone. Not only does it provide a useful taster, it also forms the pre-course material for those booked on our proofreading / copy-editing courses. For full access to the online material, you need to have booked on one of these qualifying courses.

Pre-course material
If you are attending the Proofreading for Editors course at Book House, or intending to enrol on the Basic Proofreading by Distance Learning course, this section provides you with information on what proofreading is, the role of the proofreader, types of proofreading and the difference between proofreading and editing.

Current students
Students attending the Proofreading for Editors course will be given a key number and students who are enrolled on the Basic Proofreading by Distance Learning course will receive their key number with their course materials for Unit 4. This key number is used to log in to the main section of the proofreading online learning site and here you will find a wealth of material to supplement your course notes.
There are extra examples, exercises, links to relevant websites and a discussion forum for students and tutors to interact with each other.

If you are attending the Copy-Editing Skills course at Book House, or intending to enrol on the Copy-Editing by Distance Learning course, this taster session will provide you with an introduction to copy-editing and will give you a flavour of what you get in the full course.
